Unload it and get yourself a Sigma 24-105 f/4 (for landscapes and general use) or a Canon 24-70 f/2.8 (for event work like weddings). This isnāt an awful lensā¦ itās OK. But itās not the professional lens that the red ring and āLā indicator would lead you to believe. Itās very unsharp, especially at 105mm, the image stabilization
Re: Nikon 24-120 f4 vs Canon 24-105 f4. 1- The nikon lens is sharper even though Canon bodies are usually have a sharper output. the canon lens was never sharp at 105 (both copies I had), the nikon is pretty sharp at 120 & f4. 2- The canon built quality seems slightly better than the nikon, especially the zoom ring feel.
OVERVIEW. The original Canon 24-105mm L IS may not set any records in terms of resolution, but Canon packs an amazing amount of utility into the 24-105L with features like image stabilization (IS), fast auto-focus and weather sealing. The Canon 24-105mm F4 L IS has been my de-facto travel lens for 5-6 years and has captured many great pictures.
I have recently taken several photos with the Canon 24-105 on the 6D after switching from the Olympus 14-54 as my go to lens on the E-30. At first glance I was thinking, āMan this new Canon lens is going to be quite the toy for me.ā It is monstrous with a front lens element of 77 mm and looks so sweet attached to the Canon 6D.

Verdict. Regarding its equivalent zoom range (39-168mm) on an APS-C DSLR the Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 USM L IS may not be the most sexy lens here but its performance figures are very impressive nonetheless. In fact the resolution results beat those from the EF 24-70mm f/2.8 USM L and match the EF 28-70mm f/2.8 USM L with its much more conservative
The autofocus on the Canon RF 24-105mm f4 L IS USM is overall pretty solid. Itās better than with adapted lenses and manages to be very fast. Any problems that occurred have to do with the EOS R
The more recent EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM reviewed here has all this along with an updated optical design and newer technology, making it an enticing choice for Canon DSLR users.
